Plan for Success

When you do any work, it is useful to know why you are doing it, and what you expect the end result to be. Working at home is no different. You need to think about why you are working, what you want to get out of it, and how long it will take you to achieve this.

In other words, you need a Plan.

The plan you end up with often depends on the type of business you are running. Your plan can be basic, or can have a lot of detail. What is important is to have a clear idea of what you want to achieve, and how you plan to achieve it. It's often something that people worry about. But it's only common sense- you wouldn't just go out and buy a car without thinking about the type of car you need, how many passengers you need to carry, how many miles you are likely to do, what the insurance rate is going to be etc. Even last minute holidays involve some planning- booking time off work, what clothes to pack, getting to the airport...

Planning your business is just the same. Many people struggle with their plans when they first set up in business- but it really is just writing down what you want to accomplish with your business and how you plan to do it.
